Nursing Certification Bibliography

A December 2007 news release from the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) announced the publication of a newly completed nursing certification bibliography. The expert staff at the Canadian Nurses Association completed a thorough literature search, which assisted the ABNS Research Committee in creating this bibliography.

The bibliography provides a list of published sources that focus on nursing certification. The bibliographic sources are grouped under the headings:

  • General Information on Nursing Certification
  • Specialty Certification
  • Value of Certification
  • Role Delineation/Exam Development
  • Advanced Practice Certification
  • Descriptive Studies
  • Patient Outcome Studies
  • Certification and Recertification Methods
  • Continuing Competency
  • General Interest

Where article content relates to more than one section, the article is placed in all applicable sections. The complete bibliography is now available on the ABNS website at www.nursingcertification.org.
