Practice Environments and Patient Safety

This Patient Safety Resource Guide has been created for the RN, most frequently working in a clinical role. Further, it is recognized that RN educators, managers and researchers may also benefit from this guide due to its comprehensive design reflected in the breadth of categories. It is the intent that this guide enable more RNs to access relevant literature to their profession and practice setting as the topic of patient safety continues to abound.

The bibliographic entries and abstracts contained in this guide are accessible through bibliographic data bases such as the Cumulative Index Nursing Allied Health Literature (CINAHL); Medline or the EBSCO Biomedical Reference Collection: Corporate Edition; the Internet or were provided by CNA. Where necessary, abstracts were created by either quoting key passages of the full-text or from the executive summary. Some abstracts have been abbreviated using excerpts from the reference abstract.
