Evidence-based practice

Evidence-based decision-making is essential to optimize outcomes for patients, improve clinical practice, achieve cost-effective nursing care and ensure accountability and transparency in decision-making. A variety of sources are available to registered nurses in primary care to facilitate their use of evidence and incorporate it with their individual values, client choice, theories, clinical judgment ethics, legislation and practice environment (CNA, 2002).
