The CNA board of directors is responsible for honouring those who have made an outstanding contribution to nursing.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal: In collaboration with its jurisdictional members, CNA is awarding 30 exemplary RNs with Diamond Jubilee medals. These one-time commemorative medals, created to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s reign in 2012, honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.

CNA Order of Merit awards: These five awards honour excellence in clinical nursing practice, administration, education, research, and policy. The CNA board established these awards in 2007 and they are given out at each biennial convention.

Jeanne Mance Award: This honour is the highest recognition of nursing achievement that CNA offers. Named after one of Canada’s most inspirational nurses, Jeanne Mance, it has been awarded at the CNA biennial convention since 1971.

Employer Recognition Award: The CNA Certification Program created this annual award in 1999 to honour employers who have demonstrated exemplary support for the certification process in nursing specialties.

CNA Centennial Award: CNA created this award in 2008, the year of the association’s centennial. This one-time award was given to 100 exceptional registered nurses whose personal and professional contributions made an outstanding and significant impact on the nursing profession.
