Valerie has been a Registered Nurse for over 34 years and has enjoyed a variety of practice settings and roles. She completed a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick, as well as many advanced leadership and management programs. She has a passion for critical care nursing and values the team approach to client/family centered care. Her career path has seen her working in medicine, surgery, ICU, OR and in roles such as clinical educator, clinical instructor, nursing supervisor and currently she is Nurse Manager for ICU, CCU and PCU at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Valerie has served on several hospital and provincial committees related to critical care nursing, and most recently she has represented Critical Care Nursing on the Emergency Operations Committee for COVID-19 at the QEH. Valerie has been an instructor of ACLS and BCLS for over 20 years, is a member and past chair of Heart and Stroke Resuscitation Committee and the PEI Steering Committee for the Critical Care/Emergency Nursing Program. Valerie has been a member of the Council of the College of Registered Nurses of PEI since 2018, and she currently serves as Council Chair.
