Being born and raised in the Okanagan valley, growing up in the lakes, fishing, camping, gardening, orchard walks, and blistering heat created a passion to live in areas that were full of mountains and life. I have since lived in Calgary, Squamish, and eventually made my way to the north; inspired by the community's relationship with the land and the vast mountain beauty, I settled into the Yukon in 2017. I now live in the unique community of Dawson City, the home of the goldrush era and all the oddities and stories that came along with it. My nursing career has spanned over a decade, working with an expansive patient population in varied nursing roles from an outreach nurse, to a high-acuity nurse, to a nurse manager of a community care program in a rural and northern community. I am nearing completion of my Critical Care/Emergency Nursing for rural health care (BCIT), which follows my Bachelor of Nursing degree. Amaris is the current president of the Yukon Registered Nurses Association.
