International Health Partnerships
The 2007-2012 SNNNAP – Strengthening Nurses, Nursing Networks and Associations Program
CNA undertakes its SNNNAP activities in partnership with and thanks to the financial support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). CNA partners with national nursing associations and regional nursing networks in Burkina Faso, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Senegal, southern Africa and Vietnam to strengthen nursing associations and nurses for the advancement of global health and equity. These partnerships are based on the principles and attributes of social justice and highlight the unique contribution of nurses to poverty reduction.
Objectives:
- Build the capacity of national nursing associations and regional nursing networks to:
- Enhance the contribution of the nursing profession to strengthened health systems and health policy;
- Improve nursing practice and care through regulation of the profession; and
- Build the leadership capacity of nurses and deepen the public recognition of the important contribution of this largely female profession to the health system and health status of the population.
- To enhance the collaboration between nurses from Canada and developing country partners, and increase the understanding of global health issues amongst Canadian nurses.
