Rani Srivastava

Dr. Rani Srivastava, RN, PhD, FCAN, is Dean of Nursing at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia. Previously, she held senior roles in Nursing and Interprofessional Practice, Quality, and Patient relations in Ontario and is known for translating vision into action.  Dr. Srivastava is recognized nationally and internationally for her leadership in cultural competence, bridging academia and practice environments, and creating practice-based research roles. In addition to being the author and editor for The Health Care Professional’s Guide to Cultural Competence (2nd edition published 2022), she has written several book chapters and articles on topics of cultural identity, religion, ethics, and family-centred care.

Dr. Srivastava has received recognition from the Canadian Nurses Association as being among 150 nurses in Canada who are strong public advocates and leader in advancing patient-centred care; and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Nursing (FCAN). She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Dalhousie University; Master of Science in Nursing; and  PhD from University of Toronto. She also holds adjunct appointments at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and York University in Ontario.
