CNA’s government relations program aims to influence federal health policy in the nation’s capital. Under the leadership of CEO Mike Villeneuve, the team works to advance CNA’s federal initiatives by building relationships and finding innovative ways to engage and influence parliamentarians and other decision-makers to help shape healthy public policy for Canadians.

Recent wins

  • May 2019: CNA appeared before the House of Commons standing committee on health as a witness for their study into violence in health-care settings. All of our recommendations [PDF, 1.9 MB]  were included in the committee’s final report, Violence Facing Health Care Workers in Canada, which was submitted to the federal government in June.
  • June 2019: the Advisory Council on the Implementation of National Pharmacare released its final report recommending the federal government establish a universal, single-payer pharmacare program. CNA made a submission to the council as part of our ongoing lobbying for a national pharmacare program.
