Stephanie Gilbert joins us for Winter 2022 as the fourth esteemed guest in our Indigenous Leaders Series. Stephanie is an Inuk nurse from Nunavut who was featured in the True North series in Canadian Nurse during the summer of 2021. Currently serving as the Clinical Coordinator for the Yellowknife COIVD Outbreak Response Team in the Northwest Territories, her practice is grounded in a desire to see culturally competent care delivered to people in the North. She notes that nursing values – compassion, empathy, relationships and shared responsibility – align with what she calls “the best and most beautiful aspects of the Inuit Culture.” Stephanie is a wise young nurse leader who joins us to share her perspectives and lessons from her nursing practice to help us all deliver better care to Inuit in Canada.
