Alexandre Bourassa

Director, Government Relations & Communications

CNA is delighted to announce the promotion of Alexandre Bourassa to director, government relations and communications. Alexandre brings over a decade of strategic experience in public policy, government relations, and public affairs, including in the past two years at CNA, as lead, public affairs. Previously, he held positions with the U.S. Department of State and the Quebec government, and he has worked as a federal political staffer. His expertise, vision, and collaborative approach have elevated CNA’s presence in health policy nationwide. Alexandre’s dedication to advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and clear communication will be invaluable as he leads CNA’s advocacy efforts. Gurjit Kaur Toor

Director, Research & Policy

Gurjit Kaur Toor, RN, MPH, joins CNA as inaugural director, research and policy. With 18 years’ experience in health leadership, nursing practice, research and policy, Gurjit has led initiatives regionally, provincially, nationally, and internationally across diverse care settings, including Indigenous communities. She holds bachelor of science degrees in biochemistry (McGill University) and nursing (McMaster University, summa cum laude), and a master of public health degree in epidemiology (University of Toronto). She is an alumna of the Women in Media Fellowship (Women Who Lead and Enterprise Canada). Currently, she is completing her Lean Healthcare Green Belt certification through Leading Edge Group. Gurjit is recognized for her strategic vision and expertise in interprofessional team-based care, evidence-informed practice, data analytics, and multi-sector collaborations. Her commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion — and proven leadership in system transformation — will foster impactful research and policy development, advancing nursing and health systems across Canada.

Kayla Scott

Director, Engagement & Growth

Kayla Scott joins CNA as inaugural director, engagement and growth. With over 15 years’ experience in advocacy leadership and a strong background in policy, provincial and federal government relations, stakeholder partnerships, and media strategy, Kayla brings remarkable expertise to CNA. She holds degrees from York University (undergrad and master’s degrees), has completed the negotiation mastery course at Harvard Business School online, and is completing her public leadership credential at Harvard Kennedy School. She is also a current 2025 DiverseCity Fellow with Civic Action. Recognized for her strategic focus on inclusive engagement, Kayla empowers high-performing teams and champions member-driven advocacy. Her experience advancing health-care priorities and commitment to mentorship will further strengthen CNA’s position as the voice of Canada’s largest health-care workforce.

Misty Fortier, RN, MN

Director, Credentialling Centre

Misty Fortier is the director of the CNA Credentialling Centre. With a strong background in nursing and leadership, she is dedicated to advancing professional standards and supporting health-care practitioners. Her expertise ensures efficient credentialing processes that uphold quality, integrity, and excellence across the health-care system.

Rachel Brouillette

Director, Corporate Services

Rachel Brouillette is the director of corporate services, overseeing strategic operations, finance, and administrative functions. With a focus on efficiency and organizational excellence, she drives initiatives that support long-term growth and sustainability. Rachel brings strong leadership and a collaborative approach to optimizing corporate systems and supporting overall organizational success.
