Trauma Nursing

Trauma Nursing

Are you a nurse ready to earn a nationally recognized credential in trauma nursing? Do you provide care to patients experiencing injury, crisis, or critical illness across the continuum? Our Trauma Nursing certification program is designed to recognize your expertise in delivering timely, life-saving, and patient-centred trauma care.

Showcase your expertise through a streamlined portfolio that highlights your real-world experience, clinical competencies, and impact in care settings. Submit evidence such as practice hours, education, and professional contributions — then have it assessed by expert reviewers against national competencies.

Why choose trauma nursing?

Trauma nursing is a dynamic and specialized area of practice focused on rapid assessment, critical decision-making, and coordinated care for patients experiencing acute injury and complex health events. As a trauma nurse, you play a vital role across the continuum of care — from pre-hospital and emergency response to acute care, rehabilitation, and recovery — supporting patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments. Nurses who obtain CNA certification in trauma nursing earn the right to use the credential Trauma Nursing (Canada) Certification, abbreviated CTN(C), for five years, after which they must renew through the certification continuous learning pathway.
