Canadian Nurses Honoured as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing

October 18, 2025 – The Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) proudly congratulates three outstanding Canadian nurse leaders who will be inducted as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) during a ceremony on October 18, 2025.

  • Dr. Kimberly LeBlanc, RN, PhD, NSWOC, WOCC(C), FCAN, FAAN, President of the Canadian Nurses Association, Academic Chair, Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Canada
  • Dr. Shela Hirani, RN, PhD, MScN, BScN, IBCLC, FAAN, University of Regina
  • Dr. Shannon Scott, RN, PhD, FCAHS, FCAN, FAAN, University of Alberta

The FAAN designation is one of the most prestigious international honours in nursing, recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to health and nursing on a global scale.

“CNA is immensely proud of these Canadian nurses whose leadership, scholarship, and innovation have advanced the profession and improved health outcomes for people in Canada and beyond,” said Dr. Tracie Risling, President-Elect of CNA. “Their induction reflects Canada’s strong global presence in nursing excellence and thought leadership.”
