On September 29, 2025, in honour of the 10th anniversary for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) hosted its first Anti-Indigenous Racism Knowledge Sharing Event.

CNA extends our deepest gratitude to all event speakers, members of the steering committee, and attendees. Everyone’s time, wisdom, and insights created an environment for a truly memorable knowledge sharing opportunity. Your contributions are much appreciated. Your support reminds us why this work is so essential and reaffirmed our commitment to upholding the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The event was a huge success and we received considerable positive feedback. We are so pleased to share that we had 950 registrants, 709 unique viewers, and a participation rate of 75%. In the coming weeks, we will post the video recording of the event on our YouTube channel and share all the resources on our website for your reference and continued learning. Later this year, we will issue a report on CNA’s anti-racism initiatives.

As a profession, we must be mindful that attending this event is only the beginning of this very important work. We must remain vigilant and accountable; the commitment to the provision of culturally safer care and advancing health equity for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples is lifelong. We must continue our journey to reconciliation, while learning, unlearning, practising cultural humility, and taking action to create systemic changes.
